The book is called Child Lion.

In Child Lion, we enter a world of magic and mysticism, reminiscent of ancient Feudal Japan. The world is changing. Darkness and evil creep ever closer. Trees and forests grow unnatural and monsters from out of old folklore, again roam the lands. An army of warriors wearing akuryo, demon masks, marches towards Kashiwara.

The fate of the world is held in the hands of three warriors who share a destiny and are tied by a prophecy...

A young noble woman who seeks redemption...

An old warrior who must battle despair and become a mentor to the one who must lead them all in battle...

And a boy with terrible powers who must battle demons both real and imagined in order to find his destiny...
